Talented and influential, Sir Hugh Casson was the Director of Architecture for the 1952 Festival of Britain. His skill as an artist and interest in a range of design mediums led to this famous poster for BEA. Several versions exist but given the “BEA key” logo, this is probably one of the earliest.

The poster has been displayed and shows signs of age related wear. The edges have small nicks and tears, stabilised on the rear side with small amounts of archival tape. Overall the condition is good; a famous poster by a top designer of one of the wonders of ancient Rome.
