PLM – Chemins de Fer à Crémaillère – De Chamonix au Montenvers (1982)

Genre: Travel & Tourism
Title: Chamonix Au Montenvers
Year: 1982
Artist: After Roger Soubie
Size (cm): 62 X 99
Country of origin: France

We rarely stock reproductions, but this poster is an exception. It is a 1982 re-print of an original design by Roger Soubie from the 1920’s.

The original is rare and expensive, commanding premium prices at auction. Whilst in a completely different league, 1980’s re-print has also become hard to find and comparatively expensive, a testament to the strength of Soubie’s original design and the enduring popularity of the Alps and Chamonix in particular. We do not expect to hold this poster for long.

The poster has two, very small nicks on the vertical edges, both stabilised on the reverse with light archival tape. The is some slight damage on the lower left vertical edge. The condition is consistent with its age. Overall, the condition is fair/good.
