A large format aircraft recognition poster showing the world’s first jet powered bomber, the Canberra. The poster is dated from 1962 but the aircraft had already been in service since 1951. An exceptionally versatile aircraft, the Canberra was one of only two UK aircraft to be bought by the USA in the post WW2 period. The Canberra holds the record for the longest RAF service – 55 years, retiring in 2006.

This poster was designed for display with limited circulation – very few survive today.

The poster has a central fold and shows its age (see images) with nicks, creases and small edge tears stabilised on the reverse with light, archival tape.

The poster is unbacked.
